Kickstarter has been home to many product success stories over the years. The Pebble watch, the Oculus Rift and the Fidget Cube all started their journey on the platform. At first Kickstarter seems like easy money. You upload your idea and wait for the money to roll in...right? Unfortunately there's a little more to it than that.
Behind every successful campaign is months of prep work. You need....
A Product
The most important thing you need is a solid product. It needs to look great and capture buyers interests.
A working prototype
You need a working prototype to demonstrate to the world that your product works. People are taking a risk when backing a Kickstarter campaign so they like some reassurance that your product will perform.
Manufacture and shipping costs
To sell the product you need to know how much it will cost to manufacture and ship it. Otherwise it's very difficult to decide on an accurate sale price.
A campaign video
You need a great campaign video that will summarise your product and explain why the buyer needs it. It's got to be quick and snappy as buyers have short attention spans.
A brand
All of the above elements are super important, but you need a way to tie it all together. A fantastic brand identity can do that.
Advertising
Products rarely advertise themselves. You need targeted ads, email lists and journalists talking about your product.
Now that's a lot of work! It's difficult to handle all of that alone so it's a good idea to get a team of multi-skilled people behind you. At Centreline we have that multi-skilled team. We specialise in the product development, manufacture and the branding side of the process and we've already helped a lot of clients get their ideas ready for a Kickstarter launch! Get in touch if you have an idea that you think could be the next big hit!
